The signature sounds of the late Isaac Hayes and his cultural impact on media, such as movie soundtracks for example the original “Shaft” soundtrack featuring the title track “Theme From Shaft” produced in 1971. This was the first Black movie soundtracks from the 1970s, recorded and produced by black owned label; Enterprise Records , a division of Stax Records and released in 1970. Enterprise 5002. The soundtrack achieved the number one position on both Billboard R&B , Jazz albums chart listings and was a multi platinum success. The single; “Theme From Shaft” was certified gold for selling over one million copies in America according to RIAA (Record Industry Association of America).
As we fast forward to the 21st century, the “Theme From Shaft” was featured on the movie soundtrack entitled “Shaft 2000”, released on 6th June 2000 by LaFace Records.. The soundtrack was certified gold for achieving half million plus units sold in the USA on 11th July 2000 according to RIAA
( Record Industry Association of America).
The album finally peaked at number 22 on the Billboard 200 and number 3 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart listings. The title track features Isaac Hayes Orchestra which helped the the film gross over $100 million globally.
