Welcome to Signature Sounds Online
Watch this space to know about the history of music of black origin and its impact and influence on such super groups as the Rolling Stones.
If you are a music historian, music educator, A&R person, recording artist or just a music lover, you’ve come to the right place. Signature Sounds Online is a unique website tailor-made for people just like you. Here you’ll find interesting and informative articles, videos and books about some of the world’s greatest musical icons, the people who supported them and notes on the studios where all this happened.
Over time you will get a deeper understanding of the signature sounds that were created by dynamic individuals responsible for putting together the overall recordings, hiring studio musicians and working with song writers, arrangers and producers to create a musical sound synonymous with a particular urban area or city. Legendary record producers such as Steve Cropper, Gamble & Huff, Curtis Mayfield, Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis and other legendary producers relied on tried and true session musicians to interpret their creative visions.
These musicians are the unsung heroes of many classic recordings, who sometimes did not receive the respect or credit for their significant contributions to the dynamic sounds we so love and enjoy. Over time, we will discover in great detail how this multi-racial group of studio musicians and production teams developed the chemistry that greatly impacted and contributed to the success of each studio sound from different areas across America, such as “The Memphis Sound”, “The Chicago Sound”, “The Philadelphia Sound” and “The Sound of Young America” from the Detroit area, a creation of Motown Records.
This is just the beginning of an enjoyable journey of learning and discovery. We at Signaturesoundsonline are continually developing educational programs and resources for creative people like you to help you develop your creativity through music.
Signaturesoundsonline works closely with educational establishments, ranging from secondary education to university level, to develop creative alliances that support and empower the cultural, music and entertainment industries. Please enjoy the creative journey and I shall see you at the top!
